Exploitation of FRP fabric Reinforcement: Innovation beyond FRP bars

This study provides combined experimental and numerical findings for a novel use of 3D Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) fabrics as reinforcements in concrete beams. Experiments demonstrate that beams reinforced with the multidirectional FRP not only possess adequate strength ductility, but also have great potential to achieve low-impact structures. In this study, MATLAB-based code has been developed determine material geometric design details includes complex mechanical effects, e.g. cracking, FRP-concrete bond, equilibrium, compatibility boundary conditions. tool validated against results, including load–strain load–deflection curves. The valuable aid achieving optimal reinforcement designs ensure both ductility casted by using notably less material.
